Wolf Rock, Watercolor, 1998

This is the second painting from our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, MX. The water taxi guide told us the tall rock formation was called “Wolf Rock” as it appears to be howling right out of the ocean. I remember the day when My husband Ian and I came out to this area the waves were really choppy and large when we got the tour. The boat was like a bucking bronco riding the waves. The water taxi man was a bit intoxicated when he dropped us off and like “Captain Jack Sparrow” when he returned to pick us up! I remember gripping onto the boat and my new husband’s hand, hoping we would make it past one week as newlyweds, back to the shore and the States. Needless to say we survived and here we are older (OK 10 years older), still very happy and have two beautiful daughters we love and cherish every moment, every wonderful day!

This painting was truely a labor of love as it was inspired by my wonderful honeymoon with my husband Ian in 1998. Everytime I look at the painting it brings me right back there laughing and playing on the beach with my husband and soulmate. This was painted from a photograph on the ocean side of Lovers Beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. This painting has been featured in an art show at the Torrey Pines Sheraton in San Diego and a Restaurant art show in Redding, California.

Daddy’s Home/JFK JR., Charcoal, 1999

This is a sketch I was inspired to create after John F. Kennedy Jr. passed away in 1999. I was, as the whole country was stunned and deeply sadenned by the tragedy of his early death. He was American royalty and will always be remembered in my heart and the hearts of many others. After he passed away I picked up a Life Magazine Tribute on JFK Jr.’s life photos. This photo I though was very special as it shows John F. Kennedy coming home to the White House grounds on a helicopter. JFK Jr. anxiously awaits for his Father to land. The article stated that after JFK Sr. landed he ran to JFK Jr. and Caroline Kennedy picked them up and swung them around, so happy to see them.

This was an experimental watercolor painting, created by pouring layers of paint and discovering a kind of fluid movement within the piece. Once completed, the painting revealed a “fireworks” theme which I found interesting.
